OUR EDITORS AND THEIR STORIES

P.J. CARMICHAEL

"To the cynic there are only false statements and truisms"

P.J has a masters degree in journalism from the University of New Hampshire, to which he credits none of his success.

"THE COLLEGIATE ENTERPRISE IS A TOTAL JOKE WHEN IT COMES TO THE LIBERAL ARTS.
tHE WHOLE OF MY EDUCATION WAS AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE US A VERY NARROW AND POINTED FORM OF "CULTURED" AND RADICALLY ACCEPTING OF HEDONISM.
FROM THERE IT WAS A SHORT JUMP TO
BELIEVE THAT A LIBERAL EDUCATION imbues ITS STUDENTS WITH THE HIGHEST FORM OF MORALITY, AND FURTHERMORE THAT JOURNALISTS SHOULD BE THE MORAL ARBITERS OF SOCIETY."

essentially--
"A GOOD JOURNALIST IS AN EMOTIONAL ARSONIST.
NOTHING IS WORTH SAYING THAT DOESN'T GALVANIZE
YOUR comrades AND ENRAGE YOUR ENEMIES"

Although he is still a contributor to many prestigious publications, he sees his way clear to gracing us with some of his editorials. P.J spends most of his free time on his operational farm, which he has humorously dubbed "The Fortress of the Hog" where he breeds Vietnamese Pot Bellied pigs for competition.

Hughbert "Burt" Kenau

"They could NEVER pay me enough to moderate The Pit....... so I do it for free"

Burt was born in Gary, Indiana to his father Josiah, a steelworker, and his mother Maybeline, a homemaker. Although abandoned buildings make fantastic playgrounds for a young man and his G.I. Joe, Gary was a rather inhospitable place to grow up. As crime skyrocketed, Burt's neighbors fled the city like rats escaping a flood. Having left school in 7th grade, he got a job at Gary Steel Works as a floor sweeper where he would earn enough money to mail-order what would become his lifelong obsession: obscure fanzines. By the time he was fired from the mill, Burt had such a big backlog of material to read that he decided to take a few years to catch up on his reading. GET TO READING, BURT!

Now as a grown man he has been presented with the opportunity of a lifetime: to be the lead editor for The Pit. A veritable zine in it's own right, but with the convenient addition of digital media! WHAT A LUCKY GUY!
